봉헌 생활은 궁극적으로 세상에 무엇인가를 보여주어야 하는 삶이다.
하는 일을 통해서 뭔가를 보여주려 하면 백발백중 실패이고 어쭙잖다. 무엇을 하든 그 일에 임하는 태도와 마음을 보여주려 할 때 성공이다.
* “여러분은 내일 일을 알지 못합니다. 여러분의 생명이 무엇입니까? 여러분은 잠깐 나타났다가 사라져 버리는 한 줄기 연기일 따름입니다.…여러분은 ‘주님께서 원하시면 우리가 살아서 이런저런 일을 할 것이다.’ 하고 말해야 합니다.”(야고 4,14-15)
함께 모여 사는 집단생활을 보여주려 하면 우습기 짝이 없다. 어려움 속에서도 존중과 신뢰, 성숙으로 사는 공동체 생활을 보여주려 할 때 멋있다.
일상에서 교회 밥을 축내거나 얻어먹고 사는 모습을 그럴듯하게 보여주려 하면 경멸의 대상이다. 한없는 통회의 눈물 속에서도 하느님만이 구원자이심을 믿어 경배하는 모습을 보여주려 할 때 경이로움이다.(20210210*이미지 출처-영문 구글)

Consecrated life
Consecrated life is ultimately a life in which we have to show the world something.
If you wanted to show who the consecrated are, through the work they are doing it would be a perfect fiasco! But, whatever consecrated persons do is a success when they try to show the attitude and heart with which they do this work.
* you have no idea what your life will be like tomorrow. You are a puff of smoke that appears briefly and then disappears.…you should say, “If the Lord wills it, we shall live to do this or that.”(James 4,14-15)
If you try to show a plausible life to gathered groups, we make everyone laugh. But, it is nice to show the life of the community which, despite the difficulties, tries to show a community life made of respect, trust and maturity.
If the religious try to show a life that consumes only the bread of the Church, or they live begging it, they are people of contempt. But, it is wonderful when they try to show, even amidst the tears of repentance, to adore God with faith, because he alone is the Savior.
