“하늘 나라는 밭에 숨겨진 보물과 같다. 그 보물을 발견한 사람은 그것을 다시 숨겨두고서는 기뻐하며 돌아가서 가진 것을 다 팔아 그 밭을 산다.”(마태 13,44)
이 비유를 살레시오적으로 읽으면, 살레시안들은 과연 청소년이라는 밭에서 보물을 발견한 사람인가, 살레시안은 청소년이라는 밭에서 보물을 발견하고 행여 누군가가 그 보물을 훔쳐가지나 않을까 조바심을 내며 그 보물을 온전히 살 때까지 세상의 사악함으로부터 그 보물을 숨겨두려는 사람인가, 살레시안은 그 보물을 발견한 기쁨의 충동에 못 이겨 청소년과 더불어 앞으로 나아가는 사람인가, 살레시안은 그 보물을 사기 위해 가진 것을 다 팔아 그 밭을 사는 사람인가…하는 질문들이 앞선다.
이러한 질문들은 살레시안들, 특별히 청소년들과 함께 교육적 삶을 살려는 사람들에게도 교육의 기본 원리를 밝혀주는 근본적인 질문들이 된다.

“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.”(Mt. 13,44)
If we read this parable through a salesian lens, we can ask ourselves if Salesians are people who have discovered in the field that is the world that precious treasure: young people?
And having discovered that treasure, are we concerned about losing the young to the many negative influences In the world that could harm them and prevent them from living their life to the full?
Do the young fill us with such joy that we are prepared to go and detach ourselves from all that we have so that we might invest our whole lives in their care?
These are some of the essential questions that we must continually ask ourselves if we are to remain committed to our salesian mission to educate and evangelize the young.
They are the questions that nourish the life of anyone whose deepest desire is to be a teacher and pastor of the young.

“Il regno dei cieli è simile a un tesoro nascosto nel campo; un uomo lo trova e lo nasconde; poi va, pieno di gioia, vende tutti i suoi averi e compra quel campo.”(Mt. 13,44)
Se leggiamo questa parabola con l’ottica Salesiana mi(ci) viene da domandare se i Salesiani sono coloro che hanno scoperto nel campo il Tesoro che sono i giovani? E’ dopo aver scoperto questo tesoro con il timore che qualcuno lo rubi lo tiene nascosto dalla cattiveria del mondo finche’ non l’ha acquistato del tutto, oppure quel Salesiano per la gioia di averlo scoperto va avanti con i giovani? Oppure quel Salesiano vende tutto cio’ che ha per comprare quel campo?
Queste domande sono essenziali che illuminano i principi educativi per i Salesiani, e anche per coloro che in particolare vogliono vivere una vita da educatori.
